How to move a site from another host

The easiest way is to request a free migration, but if you want to do it yourself, here is the process.

  1. Make a copy at the old host
Download the site files (zip) and export the database (e.g. phpMyAdmin → Export).
  2. Create a database on ScyHost
In cPanel open MySQL Databases, create a database and a user and assign the user to it with all privileges.
  3. Import the database
Open phpMyAdmin, select the new database and import the exported file (Import).
  4. Upload the files
In File Manager open public_html, upload the zip and extract it.
  5. Update the settings
In the application config (for WordPress wp-config.php) enter the new database name, user and password.
  6. Switch nameservers
Once everything is checked, point the domain to us.
