Frequently asked questions.
Short, honest answers. Can’t find what you’re looking for? You can open a ticket at any time.
General
Is there a contract?
No. You pay monthly or yearly and can cancel any time from the client portal or by ticket.
Who is behind ScyHost?
ScyHost is an independent hosting provider from Croatia, part of the SCYDE brand. A small team runs the servers and answers tickets and messages. Company details are on the company information page.
How do I reach support?
The fastest way is by ticket at https://support.scyhost.com, by email at support@scyhost.com or through the on-site chat (button at the bottom right). We reply in Croatian and English.
Where can I see whether something is down?
On the system status page. Each service is checked directly from the server when the page loads — no invented history.
Billing and invoices
How do I pay?
Through PayPal — with a PayPal account or a card (Visa, Mastercard) without opening a PayPal account. An invoice is issued for every payment.
Is the price I see final?
Yes, the price shown is the price you pay.
What if hosting isn’t right for me?
Within 30 days of your first order we refund the hosting fee. Domain registrations can’t be refunded because we pay the registry for them. Terms of service
How much do I save by paying yearly?
With yearly billing you pay for 12 months at a lower monthly price, and you can see the saving for each plan by toggling the “Pay yearly” switch above the plans on the Pricing page.
How do I get an invoice?
We issue an invoice for every paid order using the details you enter at checkout (with OIB for Croatian companies). If you need a correction, send us a ticket.
Hosting
How quickly is hosting activated?
For plans with automatic setup, your cPanel account is created right after the payment is confirmed and the login details are emailed to you. Other plans are set up manually and we let you know as soon as they are ready.
What is cPanel and do I need to know it?
cPanel is the standard hosting control panel: from it you manage files, databases, email, domains, DNS and backups. Most actions are a click, and our guides walk you through step by step.
Can I move to a bigger plan later?
Yes, without migrating your data. Open a ticket and we’ll move you to the bigger plan.
Can I choose the PHP version?
Yes. The server runs a current PHP release (8.3), and in cPanel you can pick another version for each domain and adjust settings. See the guide.
Are there backups?
The plans include automatic backups, and you can always download a full account backup yourself from cPanel. We recommend downloading copies of important sites yourself from time to time. See the guide.
Is bandwidth limited?
Plans come without a monthly bandwidth quota. Resource limits and prohibited activities are described in the Terms and the Acceptable use policy.
Domains
How do I register a domain?
Type a name into the search on the domains page; if it’s free you can register it in a few steps. We currently offer: .hr, .com, .eu, .net, .org.
Do I get a domain for free?
With web hosting plans billed annually, the first year of a .com, .eu, .net or .org domain is free. A .hr domain is always charged. Domain prices are listed on the pricing page.
Which nameservers do I use?
rea.scyhost.com · zara.scyhost.com · roki.scyhost.com · luna.scyhost.com
The change usually shows within a few hours and at the latest within 48 hours. See the guide.
How do I transfer a domain to you?
You need the EPP / auth code from your current registrar. The transfer page describes the process.
How do I set up email on my phone or Outlook?
Incoming server: mail.yourdomain.com, IMAP 993 (SSL). Outgoing server: mail.yourdomain.com, SMTP 465 (SSL). The username is the full email address. See the guide.
How do I open webmail?
Go to yourdomain.com/webmail and sign in with the full email address and that mailbox’s password.
Will my email end up in spam?
Outgoing mail goes through a dedicated SMTP relay to improve deliverability. For the best results use addresses on your own domain and make sure SPF and DKIM records are enabled in cPanel (Email Deliverability).
What is the difference between web hosting and email hosting?
Web hosting includes your website and email within the plan. Email hosting is a mail-only plan for your domain, with webmail, aliases and forwarding, plus calendar and contacts in the larger plans.
WordPress
How do I install WordPress?
In the WordPress plans use WP Toolkit; in the web plans use the app installer in cPanel. Both take only a few clicks — see the guide.
How do I speed up WordPress?
The server uses LiteSpeed, so install the free LiteSpeed Cache plugin and enable the basic settings. See the guide.
Can I run an online shop (WooCommerce)?
Yes, the WordPress plans are tuned for WooCommerce as well. For larger shops consider a bigger plan or a custom VPS.
Migration
How much does moving my site cost?
Nothing — migration is free. We move files, databases, email and DNS records. Request it on the migration page.
Do I have to send you my old host’s passwords?
No, not through the form or by email. You send access or a cPanel backup through a protected ticket after we open the request.
Will my site be down during the move?
We first prepare and check the site on our server, then you switch nameservers. We make sure the switch happens without losing email.
Security and privacy
Is SSL included?
Yes. AutoSSL issues and renews free certificates for your domain, www and subdomains. You can check any certificate with our tool.
How can I add extra protection to my cPanel account?
Use a long unique password and enable two-factor authentication in cPanel (Security → Two-Factor Authentication). Keep WordPress and plugins updated.
What do you do with my data?
We use your data to provide the service, for billing and for support. Details are in the privacy policy.
